Unexpected protein discovery for muscle gain

New guideline:

For years, scientists agreed about 1 gram of protein per pound of body weight was optimal for muscle gain.

But re-analysis of old and new data suggests there might not be a strict maximum, which aligns with what many bodybuilders have been telling us forever.

So the new guideline seems to be to eat as much protein as we can manage. Within reason of course.

Me?

I include an animal protein source with every meal, drink shakes, and I occasionally have a protein bar. Frankly, they taste like candy.

With that said, once you hit the 1 gram per pound mark, additional benefits are smaller, so don't obsess over it.

Just make sure you at least hit the 1 gram target, and focus on training hard and progressively overloading with heavier weights.

Dr. Muscle automates that for you, and even gives you personalized protein recommendations on your home page, updated every time you weigh in.

To your gains,
