Finding Home, Growing Roots: Reflections from Kansas City ๐ป
I've been trying to find the words to describe what I experienced at the DRUUMM Beloved Gathering in Kansas City.
I arrived honored and humbled to offer my own workshop and equally excited to participate in the incredible offerings of others. What I hadn't anticipated was just how deeply the experience would move me.
It had been a long time since I'd felt that safe in a room full of people.
There was something extraordinary about being surrounded by folks with whom I could simply be. The conversations, laughter, shared wisdom, and connections reminded me of what belonging can feel like when we don't have to negotiate our way into it.
Two moments remain especially vivid: the Fireside Chat with our Elders (I'm gonna hunt down that recording and share) and the greetings to our ancestors during closing worship. With that beautiful sense of passing the baton between generations, I was moved to absolute tears.
