Hey , happy February! πŸ’™ πŸ“š

Wait, what? How is it February already?! I don't know about you, but it seems like January just flew by. I hope you've been keeping warm. Yesterday's Groundhog Day predictions point to an early spring β€” something I wouldn't say no to here in London!

I've got some special behind the scenes secrets and updates for you today 😊

The Deathday Chronicles

Just the other day, I had a breakthrough on a major plot point in The Deathday Chronicles universe. It was something that had been tugging at my subconscious for months, simmering just beneath the surface. Still, I felt that it wasn't quite right. So I sat down, put on my favorite writing playlist, and boom! The answer came to me in a flurry. It was as if it was waiting for me all along, ready to welcome me home like an old friend. It's the plotting equivalent of being in the writing flow state, and it was an incredible feeling! I'm now even more excited to share the next book with you!

This is what my desk looked like that day. So many notes!

The Golden Curse (Hellhounds Anthology)

Last month, I shared that The Golden Curse, my fantasy story about a golden retriever on a quest to restore balance to the universe (and save his fluffy yellow duck!) had been accepted into a charity anthology called Hellhounds.

Today, I also want to give you a little behind the scenes snippet about The Golden Curse. While writing the scene of Maui the dog walking through the desolate landscapes of The Dark Realm, I listened to Long Ways to Go Yet / Gollum's Song by Howard Shore and EmilΓana Torrini (from the Lord of the Rings soundtrack) on repeat. The lyrics are:

"You are lost, you can never go home."

It's a really sad song, actually! But it definitely helped shape the dark mood of that scene.

I also had so much fun creating an AI rendering of the story on Wombo Art. Here is the AI's interpretation of The Golden Curse. What do you think? Hit reply and let me know!

You can also create your own AI art by clicking here! Perfect for sci-fi & fantasy fans alike!
