All the Updates
Happy belated Valentine's Day, friends!
Rest assured, it's still me, even though things look a little different around here! I finally buckled down and got a "professional" email address, and this newsletter service should be a great fit for my long-term plans. (More about that below!)
Thanks to everyone who recently joined my mailing list! I had such a blast at the Oakdale Holiday Hang Out! Lots of cool crafts by such talented artists, plus the chance to meet so many amazing fellow readers - definitely my kind of day :) Otherwise, my holiday season flew by in a rush of wrapping paper, excited kiddos, and lovely celebrations. And now the first few months of 2024 are zooming by just as fast!
Now onto my writing updates... I received some challenging news in January. Due to some changes at my publisher, Love2Read Love2Write Publishing, I'm getting the rights back to my books, Common and Traitor. In short, that means is they will no longer be available in their current format starting March 5th, 2024. It's taken me a while to process this change and mourn the loss of my book babies. They're such gorgeous books, and it makes me so heartbroken that soon they'll be gone. But I'm so grateful to L2L2 Publishing for making my first publishing experience so positive and for turning my stories into such gorgeous books! I learned so much during my time with them.
Beneath the sadness and overwhelmed-ness (is that a word? it should be!), I have some excitement brewing, too. Because my books will be back! And this time, I'm publishing them on my own...eep! I'm intimidated by everything I need to figure out in this new venture, but also so inspired by all the new ways I can connect with readers, like making my books available in Kindle Unlimited, offering sales, expanding my newsletter, and writing free stories in my Tales of the Mystics world! Plus, I'm hoping to release ALL FOUR books in the series within a few years, the way I should've tried to in the first place. Stay tuned for all the updates!
In the meantime, Common and Traitor will NOT be available for purchase from March until (probably) early 2025. (Though I still have a decent inventory, so feel free to reach out if you're ever interested in a signed copy!) I'm starting some behind-the-scenes prep (like reaching out to cover designers, yay!), but I need to finish writing Project Quest and Project Dragon first before I can shift my focus to my Tales of the Mystics re-boot. Project Stable has been moved out a few years, giving me plenty of time to come up with a better code name, ha!
Speaking of Project Quest and Project Dragon, they're coming along! Not as quickly as I'd hoped since I was down with a yucky case of the flu for several weeks in January, but progress is progress!
- Project Quest: 17,000 words (out of 25,000 words)
- Project Dragon: 9,000 words (out of 30,000 words)
In honor of Valentine's Day, enjoy a hint of romance in today's sneak peek :)
I'll wrap up this month with a few exciting happenings! Next Friday, February 23rd, join the Fantastic Clean Fantasy and Science Fiction Facebook Group for An Evening of Romantic Fantasy! From 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm CST, lots of Christian authors of fantasy and science fiction with clean romance will be sharing about their books. My time slot is at 4:30 - I'd love to see you there!
And don't miss the MEGA Indie Romance Giveaway! I've teamed up with fantastic authors of clean romance from a variety of genres to offer a huge pack of e-books and paperbacks to one lucky reader!
Thanks for sticking with me through another update-filled email! My goal in 2024 is to send newsletters more often so they don't have to be so long :) I'm so grateful for each one of you as you journey with me to this new chapter of my writing journey - lots of excitement to come!
