Finally we have a new supermarket πŸ˜€

Howdy ,

I have a new supermarket. OK, not me personally (1), my town.

Earlier this year, I told you about how the supermarket closed πŸ˜₯. This is the one that has replaced (2) it. It opened last month, while I was away on holiday. When I learned they were building a new supermarket, I started shopping at other stores in that chain.

Everything in this shop is new. They have arranged it differently from the old store that was there. To me, it feels like there aren't as many things, but maybe I need to explore all the shelves and sections, not just the ones where the things I buy each week are.

Because I have shopped at supermarkets in the same chain for a while, I know what to buy from the delicatessen. Yes, the prices of cheese and bacon are slightly more expensive than in the old shop. That's a bit sad...

The thing I find strange about this new store is the colour scheme (3). I liked the old store because it was light and bright. The ceiling and walls were white, and the shelves and the floor were a light colour.

Now everything is dark. The shelves are black. The ceiling is either black or a very dark grey. The lights hang down from the ceiling, and the outside of the light fittings is also dark grey or black. I don't think it looks very nice.

On my first visit, I expected to see lots of people; the old supermarket was always busy. However, I was surprised to find the new one almost empty. I thought it must have been the time of day - I was there in the morning. But it was the same for my next couple of visits, too.

Then I walked through the shopping centre last Friday. Finally, it felt like the old days. The place was full of people. I could see shoppers in the supermarket, and other people were pushing trolleys (4) out to their cars. Everything felt normal again.

Do you have a favourite supermarket, ? Why do you like it - because of the location, staff, prices or something else? Is the colour scheme important for you?

Happy grocery shopping,

Andrea

(1) personally - to do with me, for me, mine

(2) replace - to put a new thing in the place of the old one

(3) colour scheme - the set or group of colours that are used for a project

(4) trolleys - the thing with wheels that you use in a supermarket to put the items you want to buy in. (Shopping) trolley is the British English word. (Shopping) cart is the American English word.
