Are you a bookworm, {{contact.first_name}}?

Hello, hello, hello ,

I had a thought recently - it's been a long time since I read a book. Not an English (inlingua) book for work, or something for information. I mean a book just to enjoy reading.

When I was young, I was a bookworm (1). I always had a book with me and even had teachers tell me off for reading in class!

Usually I read stories and over the years had a number of favourite authors (2). My reading material covered several genres - detective stories and murder mysteries featured a lot, along with adventure books.

Not on my list were (are!) science fiction titles and thrillers.

But not all the books I read are fiction. I also enjoy biographies or autobiographies, although it depends on the person a book is about.

After I finished my university studies, I found reading wasn't so important to me. I'm not sure if it was a reaction to all the reading involved in studying, or if it was just me changing as I grew older.

However, íf I have a good (English) book, I still often binge-read it, even if that means finishing it in the early hours of the morning!

Maybe it's good that I don't read so often anymore. Once I left school I bought many of the books I read - and I was running out of space on my bookshelf!

When I left Tasmania, I gave away most of my books - I think there are still a few in a box at Mum's house (unless she's thrown them out 😧).

Here in Germany I decided that I wasn't going to collect a heap of books again - they take up space and are heavy when you move to a new flat. And over the past decade (3) I've done pretty well. I have a small collection of books, some of which I should read and then pass on.

But there are still moments when it would be nice to curl up with a book and read for hours. Maybe it's a winter feeling...

So if you have any books you'd like to recommend, or authors that you really like, let me know. Or just tell me about your reading habits, or your current book (if you have one).

Stay warm ☁️

Andrea
