It was almost a total disaster 😳!

And I was the one who did it...

Hi ,

If I can, I try to help people. So, when a colleague (1) asked me to help him book a rental car and accommodation (2) for his holiday, I was happy to assist (3). You might ask why he needed help. It's because he doesn't use the internet much. He's a lot older than me - old enough to be my father!

I was happy to help, but we never organised a time to sit down and do what he wanted. So, less than a week before he left on his holiday, the things still weren't booked.

We finally met and started working on the details (4). The accommodation was easy. We'd talked about it before and looked at options (5) and prices, so we quickly had it booked.

Next, the rental car. We searched on the website where we'd booked the accommodation. I googled a couple of other options to compare prices. Although I wanted to help, I was also running out of time as I had a bus to catch.

My colleague quickly made his decision, and I entered the details into the computer. When I had pressed 'Book', I left to catch my bus.

The next day, my colleague phoned me. The booking for the car was a mess. The pick-up place and the time were both wrong. I felt terrible, but we weren't going to see each other again before he left. However, he was travelling to see his son, so I thought his son could help him.

Then I had a terrible (6) thought. What if he couldn't change the car booking for free? I contacted him to say I'd meet him and fix things. Although I didn't say it, I wanted to pay if there was a charge. It was my mistake...

And so we met. We couldn't change the car booking details; we had to cancel it completely. Then I redid the booking (double-checking everything several times!!).

It all worked, and the price was almost €50 cheaper than the first booking 😀. I was so relieved!

Have you ever messed up an on-line reservation, ? Was it for you, or someone else? Could you fix it for free, or did you have to pay?

Catch you later.

Andrea
