Hey ,
I think I've already told you, but I don't buy many things online. It feels much nicer to go into a shop, look at the items I'm interested in, and make my decision. Oh, I can walk out with my purchases straight away, too - I don't have to wait for them to be delivered.
That's extra-true with clothing. I want to know if the thing fits correctly and is the right colour.
Shoes are one thing I buy online. It isn't because I want to, it's because the shops that had the shoes I like have closed. I go directly to the website of my favourite brand and buy from there. Usually it works really well.
When I sew something, I think it's very important to see and feel the fabric I want to buy. I want to feel the quality and make sure the colour is exactly what I want. I had never bought fabric online.
Until last week...
My most recent (1) crazy idea was to sew a heap of small things to decorate tables at a special dinner. My local fabric stores didn't have what I wanted...
On Saturday, I went online and found what I was looking for. Due to the minimum order amount, I had to buy more things than I'd planned (π). That's a big reason not to do this regularly!
Then I had to wait for the package to arrive. The timing was critical (2); I needed to sew the things, and the dinner was a few days away. If the package was too late, I wouldn't get the things sewn in time!
Monday I didn't hear anything.
Tuesday I started work a bit later. I was sitting at home when suddenly the doorbell rang. It was a delivery guy, the package had arrived! I was very impressed.
Then all I had to do was make time to do the sewing, which somehow, I did. It's still not my favourite way to buy fabric, but in an emergency, it works.
I guess you are a frequent online shopper, . But tell me, are there things that you don't buy online, that you prefer to go to a real shop and buy?
Have a fun week,
Andrea
(1) recent - in the past, but very close to now
(2) critical - very important or serious. Here the timing was very important. In an accident people can get a critical (serious) injury.
