Did you enjoy the holiday yesterday?

Hey Everyone,

How was your long weekend?

I didn't notice the 3rd of October holiday so much, due to being on my 'summer' break. However, it is always an important day on my calendar - it's window-cleaning day.

For me that isn't 'bad' - I actually enjoy making an early start and getting it finished. Cleaning windows is one of the more rewarding housework tasks (I think), because you get noticeable results quickly. It's great standing back and admiring the view through crystal clear glass.

This time the outsides of my windows were really dirty. I have a building site across the road from me and when it is dry, dust from all the digging blows everywhere! But that made the difference between dirty and clean so much stronger 😀.

Because it is the first thing I do, I then have time to enjoy the rest of the day. Yesterday that involved a walk by the Main in the beautiful autumn sunshine. They were setting up for 'Jazz on the Third' as I passed through the Römer but I was too early to hear any music.

I bought something for lunch at the Liebfrauen Federweisser Festival. No, not potato fritters - I ate some of those yesterday 😊.

Back at home I started a new knitting project and then did a couple of other cleaning jobs in my flat 😑.

As I was eating dinner (and looking though my sparkling windows) I noticed a black dot. Oops - a spot I had missed? I moved around a little and realised it was something in the air. Something small-ish. Not a bird, there weren't any flapping wings. A drone?

I couldn't see anyone in the building area so I stood up and there was a guy on my street looking carefully at something in his hands. Watching him for a while, it became clear he was controlling the drone. He moved it over different parts of the construction site and then brought it back and landed it next to him. It was interesting to watch.
