{{contact.first_name}} I made one phone call and here’s what happened.

Hello

There is something I have been thinking about since my wellness panel last week.

I almost talked myself out of it.

I saw an advertisement for the event in a WhatsApp group.

I thought, Hmm… this looks like something I should be part of.

And then the usual questions started.

Will they even consider me?

What if I call and she says no?

What if I sound too forward?

But instead of sitting with all those thoughts, I asked the owner of the WhatsApp group for the convener's phone number.

Then I called her.

I introduced myself, told her what I do and, more importantly, pitched why I would add value to her event.

She was sold.

And just like that, I became one of the panelists.

The event was amazing. I had a great time, met some wonderful people and had conversations that reminded me yet again why I do this work.

But what happened after the event was even more interesting.

From that one opportunity, I have now booked:

2 podcast sessions.
1 TV appearance.

All because I saw an opportunity and decided to take it.

And this is the part I really want you to take away.

Sometimes, we say we want opportunities.

We want to be seen.

We want our work to reach more people.

We want the right people to discover us.

But we are sitting quietly, waiting for someone to find us.

I am learning that visibility requires participation.

You have to put yourself in the room.

You have to make the call.

You have to send the email.

You have to introduce yourself.

You have to say, "Here is what I can bring to the table."

And yes, you might be nervous.

I was nervous.

You might be rejected.

I could have been rejected.

But not making the call would have guaranteed one thing: nothing would have happened.

Even if she had said no to my proposal, I would still have been proud of myself for doing it afraid.

Because in this season of my life, my desire for visibility will have to crush my fear of rejection.

So, where are you currently waiting for an opportunity to come to you?

Is there a person you need to reach out to?

A room you need to put yourself in?

An idea you need to pitch?

A conversation you need to start?

Go.

You don't need to know that they will say yes.

You just need to be willing to ask.

I hope you are putting yourself out there too.

Not just wishing for opportunities to come to you.

Go create some.

With love,

Tochi
