How to increase the peace in your marriage

image

Recently I was thinking about what has been the most significant thing Cetelia and I have done to increase the level of peace in our marriage.

The answer?

We’ve gotten better at leaving each other alone.

What I mean by that is we’re giving each other space to be who we are and do what we do.

Of course, we still call out destructive behaviors and attitudes. But, for the most part, we’re yielding and simply letting the other be.

I’m letting Cetelia be Cetelia, and Cetelia’s letting Kevin be Kevin.

I don’t like everything she does, and she doesn’t like everything I do, and so what?

There’s peace in leaving your spouse alone, and not fretting over every little thing.

In what areas do you need to leave your spouse alone?

(Hint: look in the areas where you’re most upright over non-marriage threatening issues.)
