Hi ,
I’ve discovered one of the hardest things about parenting is letting go. Now, I don’t mean letting them go and having nothing to do with them, but rather, letting go of treating them like kids.
I still find myself hand holding them, and I’m probably doing that more than I should. And while as a mom that’s fine, hand holding them as adults doesn’t help them. Three of my kids still live at home, and it’s hard to switch the dynamic, especially when you’ve taken care of them all their lives.
They keep expecting that you will do it every day, and it becomes their mindset because it’s what they are used to, and as hard as it is, it’s what we’re used to as well. They leave a dish in the sink, it’s my reaction to wash it. Are they hungry? It’s my inclination to cook for them.
But I am about to head away on vacation for over a week without them, and we are trying to get them to be more involved in their everyday lives. We’ve been through a lot so it was always easier just to do things myself, but now, it’s kicking me in the behind because they should be able to be confident in themselves, and not just confident in me.
When we do everything for them, they don’t learn to have confidence and the belief in themselves that they can do it. I had a discussion with my second oldest child, and his concern was that he couldn’t remember how to cook what we’ve shown him.
We discussed how memory comes from repetition and routine. The more you do something, the more you remember. If you only do something once in a while, you won’t build the core memory of how to do it. It takes time and practice, just like anything. You have to build confidence, build knowledge.
So, if you are a mom or dad reading this, start young. Don’t wait. Do you experience this with your children? I’d love to hear from you!
xoxo,
Patricia

Reading Recommendation
They'll Risk everything just to be together. Every. Single. Time.
-Austin-
Breanna's been my best friend since high school started. So much so, we've done everything together, including the college experience. There's just one problem . . .
I've been in love with her since I was old enough to know what love is.
She doesn't know it, of course. We went on one date our freshman year of high school, and it was a disaster. After that, we promised we'd stay friends, no matter what. And we have. But my feelings for her haven't changed. If anything, they're stronger than they've ever been.
My Frat buddies and I invite Bre and her roommate to come hang with us on a trip for Spring Break. By the time we're ready to head back for the last leg before graduation, I'm doing everything I can to not lose Bre.
Trying for a relationship with her is everything I want, but it's also the most terrifying thing I've thought about. The last thing I want is to lose her as my best friend if things don't work out because I can't picture my life without her.
But after graduation, I'm going Pro for soccer, and she already has a teaching job lined up here at home.
Now it's time to figure out how much this love is worth because I might have to put everything on the line to have it.

A Steamy Forbidden Age-Gap Curvy Girl Romance
School is just heating up when one professor lays eyes on the woman of his dreams.
Ben
She was young and everything I’ve ever wanted. Too bad she’s one of my students.
I know we’re both adults, but watching her sit in class, staring back at me set my blood on fire.
Does she know I want her? Could she ever think to break the rules and follow her heart?
Could I?
I’ve never been this tempted by anyone. The more I see her, the more I can’t get her out of my head.
Carla
Bumping into Ben was an accident. One I haven’t been able to stop thinking about since.
Handsome, charismatic, and charming, I feel myself craven for him in ways I’ve never experienced.
I know I’m not supposed to think about him like this but I can’t help it.
If he only knew what his gaze does to me. The fire it awakens deep inside.
This is going to be a long year. If I can last that long.
Warning!
When this college professor sets eyes on his curvy student it is all he can do to follow the rules and avoid temptation. But even that isn’t enough.
If the thought of the societal taboo gets your heart racing, prepare to be consumed with the torrid love of Ben and Carla in this steamy, curvy romance by Summer Rose.
