,
Layoffs are happening in full swing.
Layoffs are brutal.
In the past few weeks, we’ve observed many companies conducting layoffs. Whether it’s Twitter, Stripe, Hootsuite, Udaan, and more, it’s sad to see many losing their jobs. Meta is also planning a mass layoff.
There is a hiring freeze.
The worst thing to do right now is to jump into any job you get. Here's why:
- You will still have to stick around if the work environment is toxic.
- You might not be able to perform well if the job isn't a good fit.
- With frequent switching, you will risk being perceived as a job hopper.
I get it. All of us have bills and EMIs to pay. I hear you. Here's what to do:
Use the CATAPULT METHOD.
- Take 5 steps back before you take one step forward.
- Conduct a thorough skills assessment and see where you stand with respect to market needs.
- Make a list of 50 companies you want to apply to, read up on your target Job Descriptions (JDs), and check if you are missing any mandatory certifications.
- Start networking with people from these companies who are at the same level/one level up and have informational interviews. (More on that in the upcoming newsletters).
