Here is a recap of our message from this weekend...
WAITING IN WONDER: PEACE IN THE MIDDLE
This message from Pastor Jared, "Peace in the Middle", reminds us that even when we’re doing exactly what God called us to do, anxiety can still creep in. But peace isn’t found in certainty—it’s found in trust. Drawing from Philippians 4 and Mark 4, the sermon unpacks how we can choose peace in the middle of life’s storms by turning to prayer, shifting our focus, and trusting that Jesus is in the boat with us.

The Sunday Outline & Notes
Pastor Jared opens the message with a striking truth: you can be doing everything right—walking in God’s will—and still feel anxious. This sets the stage for a message that acknowledges real-life pressure while pointing us to supernatural peace. We’re often caught in the “middle” between what was and what’s coming, and that space can stir anxiety not because God isn’t working, but because control feels like it’s slipping away.
Paul writes to a church under pressure, and he doesn’t minimize their anxiety—he redirects it. Prayer, petition, and thanksgiving become our spiritual tools. Pastor Jared emphasizes that anxiety doesn't just disappear; it gets replaced. When we trade our stress for trust, we receive peace that guards our hearts and minds.
Point 1: Peace Doesn’t Remove the Storm—It Changes Who You Trust in It
Using Philippians 4:6-7 and the story of Jesus calming the storm in Mark 4, Pastor Jared teaches that peace isn’t about the absence of chaos—it’s about the presence of Jesus in the chaos. The disciples were in the middle of a storm while doing exactly what Jesus asked them to do. Their fear didn’t mean they were disobedient—it meant they were human.
But Jesus didn’t rebuke the storm first—He addressed their fear first. Because God is often more interested in who you're becoming in the storm than in removing it immediately. Storms are temporary. Faith is eternal. And true peace comes not from the resolution of uncertainty, but from trusting the One who’s in the boat with you.
Pastor Jared shared openly about his own anxious moments during the church's move: budget pressure, construction delays, and dealing with the unknown. But he reminded us: Peace isn’t the absence of problems—it’s the presence of God in the middle of them.
Point 2: Peace Is a Choice, Not a Feeling
In Philippians 4, Paul doesn’t say, “Don’t feel anxious.” He says, “Don’t be anxious.” There’s a difference. We can’t control how we feel—but we can choose how we respond to what we feel. That’s what makes peace a decision, not just an emotion.
Paul gives us a roadmap:
Prayer says “God, I need You.”
Petition says “Here’s what I’m carrying.”
Thanksgiving says “I trust You anyway.”
When we bring our anxiety to God in this way, He doesn’t always calm the situation—but He guards our hearts in the middle of it. That’s what God’s peace does—it guards what matters most in your life while you walk through what’s uncertain.
Expectations for the Move to the New Building
And as we get ready for Christmas at One City in our new home, Pastor Jared laid out three expectations to prepare us practically and spiritually for what’s ahead.
1. PARKING PLAN
When you arrive at 515 Innovation Drive, follow the parking signs and team members. Please do not park wherever you want—our team will guide you to an open space to maximize every spot. If our main lot fills up, they’ll direct you to street parking or overflow parking across the street.
👉 If you need a handicap spot, turn on your hazard lights when you arrive.
2. KIDS CHECK-IN PLAN
The new kids’ check-in area is right in the main lobby—you can’t miss it. After check-in, you'll head into our secure kids area with clearly marked rooms:
- Nursery
- Toddlers
- Pre-K
- Elementary (K–5th)
- Our amazing team will help you find the right space for your child and make the process smooth and welcoming.
3. AUDITORIUM PLAN
We want to steward our new space well, so we’re asking everyone to help us in two key ways:
- Please wait to enter the auditorium until the doors are opened (about 10–15 minutes before service begins). This gives our team time to reset the room and prep for the next service.
- No food or drinks allowed in the auditorium. This protects the space from wear and damage so we can use it for years to come. Enjoy your coffee in the lobby or outdoor areas—but let’s keep God’s house clean!
