Here is a recap of our message from this weekend...

Day One: Fitness Training

image

What a message this Sunday. In Week 3 of the "Day One" series, Pastor Jared reminds us that confession and repentance are essential steps to experiencing the abundant life God has for us. Just as unacknowledged physical weight can cause pain in your body, unconfessed sin becomes a heavy burden that can bring pain into our lives. Confession brings freedom, repentance restores our relationship with God, and healing with God leads to healing with others. Freedom starts with humility, and transformation happens when we let go of the weight holding us back.

Weekly Bible Study List

  1. John 10:10 – "I have come that they may have life and have it to the full."
  2. 1 John 1:9 – "If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness."
  3. Acts 3:19 – "Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord."
  4. Psalm 32:5 – "Then I acknowledged my sin to you and did not cover up my iniquity. I said, 'I will confess my transgressions to the Lord.' And you forgave the guilt of my sin."
  5. James 5:16 – "Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed."

3 Things the Word of God Do in our Lives

  1. Confession Brings Freedom - Confession is not about guilt but about bringing God’s grace into our lives. It acknowledges our dependence on Jesus and allows God to deal with the cracks in our lives before they spread. Hidden sin cannot bring freedom; only confessed sin can.
  2. Repentance Brings Restoration - Confession opens the door, but repentance walks through it. Repentance is not just turning away from sin; it’s intentionally turning back to God. Acts 3:19 calls us to "repent and turn to God" so that times of refreshing can come. Repentance is not about behavior modification; it’s about seeking God and allowing Him to transform us.
  3. Healing with God Brings Healing with People - Sin not only impacts our relationship with God but also with others. James 5:16 reminds us that confessing our sins to one another and praying for each other leads to healing. True restoration in relationships begins with humility, unconditional grace, and a willingness to right our wrongs.

From Sermon to Action

Pastor Jared concludes with a challenge for this week:

  1. Allow God to Examine Your Heart – Ask God to reveal unresolved sin or bitterness (Psalm 139:23-24).
  2. Confess Your Sin and Right Your Wrongs – Take responsibility for where your sin has caused harm.
  3. Create a Plan for Repentance – Intentionally replace sinful behaviors with godly habits and pray for strength to turn to God.
