I've said it once, and I'll say it again: it is impossible not to take a great photo when you're hiking in an Oregon forest. Case in point, I am a very twitchy point-n-click kind of photographer, but I took several great pictures with my phone on the hike between Alsea Falls and Green Peak Falls. Both waterfalls are along the Mary’s Peak scenic byway, where my story in the anthology Summer Solstice Shenanigans takes place. If you are ever around either Eugene or Corvallis, Oregon and are looking for a great, quiet day hike, I highly recommend it.
Even the tree in the foreground looks like I planned this shot. Thanks, Mother Nature!
And for those of you who've been asking for more fictional wilderness adventures, the day has arrived! Rising Scorn, Book 6 of the Magic of Nasci series released today. Check out Ina's next adventure in her own words below:
Just when I think I’ve seen it all, life throws a jackal with bat wings at me.
To be fair, banishing the interdimensional monsters that invade the Pacific Northwest wilderness is a pretty typical day for a nature wizard like me. Lately, though, something’s off. The mythical creatures from Letum have a rabid bloodlust I’ve never seen before.
To make matters worse, I still have Darby to deal with. She’s suffering through the anger stage of grief, and she’s focused all that rage on me. Darby will stop at nothing to get me kicked out of the magical shepherd club.
But my elemental magic has grown leaps and bounds. I know people have my back: Vincent the game warden, Guntram the grumpy old augur, and Sipho the talented forger. Here’s hoping we're enough to keep the supernatural (and Darby’s allies on Mt. Rainier) at bay.
And if you're new to the nature wizard scene and are interested in reading from the beginning, Chasing Lightning, Book 1 is on sale in the US/UK for 99c/p for a limited time.
