The first day of September pretty much puts summer in my rearview mirror. Despite having started off the season with my husband undergoing surgery, everything since then has been looking positive (including his recovery, thankfully). I even managed to make it out to my parents' house for the first time since Christmas 2019, an extra special occasion because they are putting the house I grew up in for sale. This August was the last time I'll probably ever visit my childhood home.
The little brick house of so many memories
It's a bittersweet moment, for sure, but ultimately the right move. My folks have lived on this rural property most of their adult lives. They've had a lot of space and quiet, but getting into town has always been a chore. Moving inside city limits means a lot less hassle for them overall. Plus, the new house better suits their current needs.
But it is hard to say goodbye.
Keeping with the theme of farewells, the urban fantasy anthology Summer Solstice Shenangians, is about to stop selling in its digital form in September. While readers will always be able to pick up a paperbook copy, the ebook can only be purchased for the next few weeks.
