Happy Sunday All
January is such a complicated month.
It is full of good intentions - a fresh year, a new story to write, a clean slate. If you love winter sports, you are in your element. My son has embraced skating, and we have many evenings on the Greenwood path - a lovely slope of fresh ice - getting out, returning home with pink cheeks and better for it. But, for those who would much rather hit long walks on warm spring days, January is a chore.
And that's why January is a mixed bag - for some, they are ready to commit; for others, they are keeping going from December, and for a third there is a feeling of waiting for February (it's ok...). But I want to do things differently this year and I am not alone. 2026 is my year to grow, and this month I am doing multiple programs on my own to help me as a coach!
The most important thing for January - Be You.
How?
If life is tough (and for many, it has been), be compassionate. On the days you feel strong, PUSH. I mean it - push yourself. Do the extra workout, hit 10K steps, embrace feeling good. On the flip side, if you have no energy, be ok with that - do mobility, yoga, stretch - just keep your body going.
FITFAM 2026 has ALL the fitness and MORE - monthly challenges, in-person events, book clubs and ways to embrace your health beyond the sweat (and if you are here just for the sweat, all good!). We are off to a powerful start: We have two brand new members (welcome Heather and Catherine) and in January we have 21 classes (I can't believe it myself) with great attendance, and awesome metrics behind the scenes. Take the programming - and make REQUESTS in the portal FITFAM DISCUSSIONS.
January
- Sugar free January. There are resources and even a mini program you can access here. I am 80/20 on my sugar and feel amazing for it. There are sweet, refined sugar recipes below and protein and fiber
- Meal Prep - we had our first last week and am open to doing it next week - 2 recipes, 1 hour, 4 PM.
- Book Club - Atomic Habits (see below) Thursday Jan 29. Even if you can't read the book, I urge you to come. This is an essential conversation for habit change.
- February: Heart Health Month, In Person Cycle Class Feb 8th at Kardia
- Mini-Healthy Six February - if you want to kick start weight loss and embrace fiber and protein, this is for you
- Book Club February: Four Agreements

- Exercise: If you are new, aim for TWO classes this week. If you are a veteran and miss a day here is your tip - do not miss another one if you can help it. Do any workout to stay on track
- Nutrition Look at food as fuel: Aim for 25-35 grams of fiber, 100-130 grams of protein and lots of water. If you are looking for great winter fiber ideas, see below.
- Recovery: Try going to be 30 minutes earlier with a book. Journal in the evening
- Connection - if you are bold - SHARE YOUR GOALS in the portal or on what's app
- Mindfulness. Have ONE meal this week that is not distracted. So, at lunch be with your soup. Not joking
- Joy: Look at the week ahead. What is one thing that can bring you joy?
