What we must endure

image

Hi ,

As you can see, I am not perfect - a newsletter that I thought was scheduled did not send; I dropped several balls at work today, and though I taught a kick ass heavy weights class (below!!), this day has been hard.

I am about to listen to one of my favorite Sarah Blondin meditations - What We Must Endure and last night my son and I listened to Transforming Fear. I have been contemplating how we "wrap up" this Healthy Six cohort, in the frame of mind that I am currently in, and I am going to first tell you where I am, tell you how I have coped (or not) and lead you to the light.

Notice the Sunflower is our log. There is a reason for that.

This has been a tough few weeks - work, family, fatigue and stress. At moments it feels the balance beam is a thin twig. Last night, my son had meltdown I had never seen before. He has separation anxiety, and I thought we had prepared him for his school trip - nothing prepared me for last night. In the middle of the storm, I took him to the dollar store to try to distract him and buy him some treats; the son of a health coach turned to me and said, "Mum, I don't want to numb with sugar."

Wow.

We lay in bed holding hands, doing a meditation. He left on the bus today - not perfect, but trying his best to be brave. When he was saying over and over again last night - mum, I am afraid, I am afraid, I am afraid....what could I say but this? Fear, my love, is something you are going to have to face forever. I wish I could protect you from it. But I can't.

I have said this many times - the pillars come together, but mindfulness is such a central part. I would love to say I didn't lose my shit last night, but that would be a lie. I would love to say that the anxiety of the last few weeks - an impending renovation, stress at work.....life....didn't affect me but that would be a lie.

The thing is - we can eat our emotions, or not. We can exercise for five minutes, or not. We can fill our fridge with healthy food, go to bed earlier, and finally try that damned meditation thing....or not.

The light beckons us. It is why you wanted to do this program, it is why you are going to wake up tomorrow and try again.

Keep eating a Healthy Six Diet

Keep exercising

Keep focusing on mindfulness.

The light will grow inside you.

Next week, as we wrap up the Healthy Six winter cohort, We will have my dear friend Cynthia Funk do a restorative yoga, guided meditation and talk about "Flipping the Switch." 7 PM - do not miss it.
