Happy Sunday
June is a precocious balancing act.
Whether you are a parent with kids in a million activities, a teacher doing report cards, or someone who feels the rush of the end of H1 (first six months of the year), with everyone pushing forward to summer holidays, one thing I have noticed amongst my clients is this:
Burnout.
We often hear stories about executive reaching burnout, or busy CEO working moms - but we don't hear as much about the lead up, which in my view is much more important.
In the lead up to burnout, you can stop the burnout.
So, how do you know if you are burning out? And what can you do?
Signs:
- Persistent exhaustion - even if you have slept
- Emotional withdrawal - you don't feel the highs as much, nor the lows
- Can't make it through the day without caffeine
- Spinning, restless mind
A couple of articles I found useful is this one from HR Daily Advisor and this one from Very Well, which encourages mental health days.
As we race towards summer, you might feel like this:
You don't have to.
Stop. Pause. Breathe.
Plan your moments. The ones for YOU
- Plan your workouts - when we are busy it is always the thing that gets pushed away. If you can come on a 630
- Plan your meals - do NOT reinvent the wheel. Use my Simple Pulled Chicken crockpot recipe. Double it, and have shredded chicken salads, tacos for the kids, put it into a simple soup with a box of stock and veggies.
- Plan your walks - your work is busy. You can spare 10 minutes.
There may not be a lot of time for you in the next few weeks. But it every day affords you decisions to take care of yourself, even just a little bit.
Watch the sunset.

RESEARCH, RECIPES AND MORE
Why Wearables Are Reshaping Health
*** I am a huge fan of wearables. Recent research has highlighting their ability to curb metabolic syndrome (a precursor to Type 2 Diabetes). I am curious to expand my own wearable experience, and would love to connect with you all more as a coach1
Protein Bagels
Protein everything. Yes, protein is "trending" - for a reason We need to eat 1-1.2 grams of protein per pound of ideal body weight. That equals 120-160 grams of protein for most of us. Aim for protein every meal and snack.
20 Minute Mobility - Expect more strength, more SIT training (get a piece of cardio equipment) and more MOBILITY
In health and wellness
