Merry Christmas, Reader Friends!
And Happy (almost) New Year!! What a year it's been! 2024 has been a complete whirlwind for me, between shuttling my four kiddos to so many activities and a new school for my oldest, taking on a new part-time job at our church, re-releasing Common with a new publisher, and self-publishing two new novellas as part of different multi-author series. Whew! For an author who has only published two books and a handful of short stories over the past 6 years, that was a lot! But it's been an amazing ride, and I'm so grateful.
Speaking of new novellas, The Dancer and the Dragon Speaker is here!!! I definitely had to stretch myself to make the deadline for this story so soon after A Noble Purpose, but I LOVED how it turned out! And I'm thrilled to say readers are loving it too :) So many thanks to everyone who helped make the release such a success with reviews, social media posts, and so much encouragement. You guys are the best!
In other news, I had a table at the Oakdale Holiday Hangout a few weeks ago, which was a blast! Sadly a bout of freezing rain made the last few hours pretty quiet, but I so enjoyed meeting some like-minded readers and seeing all the cool crafts other vendors had created. I don't have any future in-person events lined up yet, but I'll keep you posted!
So what's coming for 2025? I've been wondering the same thing, ha! Traitor will re-release hopefully sometime in the first half of the year, but the date isn't finalized yet (exciting announcement related to that coming soon!). And I'm planning to *finally* finish Book Three in the series! It's been a long time coming, but with the momentum from my new publisher I'm excited to bring the various pieces that I've written of this book into one cohesive, meaningful story. I also have a few other ideas / starts of projects vying for attention, so we'll see which one manages to get first dibs :) No matter what the year brings, this newsletter will be the best place to get announcements and updates!
Thanks so much for spending time with me during this busy season, friends! I'd love to hear how you spent the holidays or favorite reads from 2024. Sending hugs, prayers, virtual chocolate, and all my best wishes for 2025!
Book Spotlights
An estranged son. An adopted heir. A magical attack that forces them to work together.
If you haven't read any of H.L. Burke's yet, you need to :) Snarky humor, clean romance, cool magic systems, and plenty of heart. As you can probably tell just from the cover, Magicians' Rivalry, Book One in her Spellsmith & Carver series, is such a fun ride! And it's currently FREE!
An island chieftain’s daughter. A fearsome beast. Can veiled magic and forbidden love shatter an evil curse?
Have you heard about Into the Enchanted yet? It's a new multi-author series of standalone no-spice fairy tale retellings where magic-born heroines discover their happily ever afters. They look amazing!! Redeeming the Dragon by Sarah Ashwood just released on December 13th and retells East of the Sun, West of the Moon - I can't wait to read it!
Certain books catch my attention through just the title or cover...or in the case of Sorcery and Stagecraft by Kristin L. Hamblin, both! I love the idea of a girl creating beautiful illusions only to discover they're actually portals into another world. Intriguing, right? The next book in the series comes out in February!
Sorcery and Stagecraft is book one in the Sorcery & Sacrifice series, a young adult romantic portal fantasy, perfect for fans of forbidden love, deep friendships, and good triumphing over evil.
Anyone else have a strong sweet tooth? Especially this time of year?? Sweets Make Everything Better by Elena Shelest looks like such an adorable story about magical candies and long-lost love, and it's *free* if you sign up for the author's newsletter!
A heartwarming magic-infused romance sprinkled with second chances.
