Greetings, reader friends!

A warm welcome to all of you who are new subscribers! If you don't recognize my name, you likely signed up for my newsletter through either the Christmas Advent Calendar giveaway or the Clean & Sweet Romantasy promo. Regardless of how you found me, I'm thrilled you're here! There's always the option to unsubscribe if needed (at the bottom), but I'd love to stay connected with you through this monthly writing update complete with clean romantasy book recommendations :)

For anyone who's new (or would appreciate a refresher!), here's a quick intro to me and my books. I live in Minnesota with my husband and four red-haired kiddos and write books that combine fantasy adventure with fairy tale romance. My first two novels, Common and Traitor, are part of my Tales of the Mystics series and were re-released with a new publisher in 2024 / 2025. (I hope to have exciting news about Book 3 very soon!)

I also published two romantasy novellas as part of multi-author collections in 2024: A Noble Purpose, a retelling of Hans, Who Made the Princess Laugh in the Cornerstone Series, and The Dancer and the Dragon Speaker, a mash-up of The Twelve Dancing Princesses and The Language of the Birds in the Intertwined Tales. Both released in audiobook form in 2025! (The audiobook for TDATDS is available for FREE on YouTube here.) Last year I also completed my new newsletter freebie, Palace of Lights. If you don't have it yet, find the link (plus a free short story, Threshold) below! In addition, I have short stories in a number of anthologies if you prefer faster reads :)

So what's next? I'm currently involved in two more multi-author projects that I can't wait to tell you about soon! I'm hoping to also release the sequel to Palace of Lights in 2026, but we'll see how much writing I can get done! Not much so far, but I did work on a top secret project that will involve some fun freebies for you. Stay tuned for more info next month, plus a cover reveal!

I'll be honest that January has been a tough month. Living so near all the unrest happening in Minneapolis right now has kept my emotions roiling the past few weeks. Gratitude for our own safety, sadness, anger, and heartbreak at the magnitude of chaos and violence, and helplessness that my own attempts to promote peace and compassion are only pinpricks of light in the midst of so much darkness. Add to that a friend losing her battle with cancer and multiple people in our community experiencing sudden, unexpected losses, and my prayer intention list feels miles long. But God is always good, and I'm holding on to his promise that we never walk alone.

Please let me know if there's any way I can pray for you this coming month. I hope you're all staying warm and finding moments of joy and hope, even if your year is off to a rough start as well. Thanks so much for spending time with me today, and I'll see you next month with some fun announcements!

Have you heard about the To Win A Dark Heart series yet? This multi-author project involves some of my favorite writers, and each story is a clean, swoony retelling with the twist that the villain finds a happily-ever-after. The first two books already released, and more are on the way!

Falling for the Pirate by Nicki Chapelway is a mashup of The Little Mermaid and Peter Pan and releases on Feb 13, I can't wait!

H.L. Burke writes the best superhero novels because they've got action and adventure but also quirky, relatable characters and lots of cute romance! Conveniently Married to A Superhero is the latest release in her Superhero Romance Project Series (which connects to events / characters from other books but can be read in any order). Note that the content leans more adult than YA since it contains a fade-to-black scene.

As Mal and Charlie navigate villain attacks, meddling in-laws, and a rebellious teen in constant hot water, they're surprised at how good a team they make. Could there be something real in their pretending? Or will Charlie's secrets sink any chances of a happy ending?
