{{contact.first_name}}, what do you think of markets?

Dear ,

While walking at the weekend I discovered a market I had never visited before. It was in a car park, so there was heaps of space. The day was warm and sunny and so the area was busy with people looking through the goods that were on offer.

I really enjoy wandering through a market and looking at all the wonderful and sometimes weird things that are available. For me it started with the one in Hobart, which every Tasmanian knows about. The stalls stretched along a street that was closed every Saturday to allow the market to take place. A lot of the stalls sold lovely handcrafted items that made perfect gifts.

During holidays abroad, I discovered other markets. In London, I made sure to visit the Camden Town Market. What an experience! Some of the goods you could buy there were definitely eye-opening. I also checked out the Portobello Road Market which seemed to stretch on forever.

The food markets in Indonesia were fascinating and had kinds of fruit and spices that I had never seen before. In Tasmania, I visited a couple of farmers markets, which were starting to become popular before I Ieft. Germany has a host of weekly markets where I buy fruit and vegetables but also other items such as honey straight from the beekeeper and milk products direct from a dairy.

I also love looking at markets where craftspeople show and sell their goods. I get inspired and leave with fresh, creative ideas, even if I don't purchase anything. Personally, I find it hard not to spend when there are beautiful, handmade things on offer.

Although I enjoy the market atmosphere, I don't get too excited about a flea market. A lot of the things for sale do not interest me and the few things that I do find interesting are usually too old or used for me to want to buy them. The fact that there are flea markets shows that the saying is true 'one man's trash is another man's treasure'. The good thing about a flea market is that the items are usually cheap.

So, mostly I like markets and will even find out what markets there are in cities I want to travel to.

Do you like visiting markets? Do you buy things at your local food or farmers market or research markets to go to when you visit a new city? If you do, write and tell me about the markets you go to. If you don't, tell me what you don't like about markets. I look forward to hearing from you.

Enjoy the rest of your day!

Andrea
