H there,
Here's a story from a few years ago. Looking back it was funny, but also embarrassing.
I stayed in Hamburg for a few days early in 2013. It was winter, so everyone was wearing thick, warm coats.
When I travel I always carry a small rucksack with me, one that's big enough for everything I need for a day out. The one I had back then had lots of loops and cords on the outside for attaching all sorts of things. I didn't use most of them - my water bottle sat in a pocket on the outside, but everything else went inside the pack.
My hotel was to one side of the train station. Every day I walked through the station to get to and from the shops and sights. Hamburg is a big city and the station was quite busy, especially as heaps of people were still on their New Year break.
One afternoon I was in the main train station. I had probably bought a treat from the food court to eat back in my room. I can't remember, but it sounds like me 😉.
As I walked towards the exit, I was suddenly pulled backwards - it felt really strange. I tried to turn to see why I couldn't move and found a man very close to me, with a puzzled look on his face. We were actually attached to each other 😳. One of the loops on my backpack had caught on a button on his coat!!
Quickly he removed the loop from his button. He didn't seem upset, in fact he made a joke about wondering what I was offering. Need I explain that train stations are often at the edge of Red Light Zones in larger cities?
Despite his good humour, I felt really embarrassed and apologised. Then I quickly walked away. Even in that moment I could see the funny side of what had happened and joked with my sister later about 'catching' a guy.
So, that's one of my red-face moments. I hope it made you smile. Feel free to tell me what you would have done in my situation. Or maybe you have an embarrassing or funny moment of your own that you would like to share.
Have a great week!
Andrea
