Just Released: CTR Mastery with John Aspinall

Our latest Synapse Sessions episode featuring John Aspinall, Brand Evangelist at PickFu and Founder of Aspi Creatives, is now available!

With over 15 years of e-commerce experience and a specialized focus on Amazon main images, John shares game-changing insights on improving your click-through rates:

  • Understanding "wild west" vs. "no-fly zone" categories for image optimization
  • Category-specific strategies for supplements, utilitarian products, and apparel
  • Why some categories allow packaging visualization while others strictly prohibit it
  • How to properly leverage "Made in the USA" indicators for maximum CTR impact

John's most valuable insight? The worst case scenario when testing main image strategies is just a temporary image suppression – not account suspension as many sellers fear.

"If you see other folks doing certain things, getting away with certain things, especially in brand ads or sponsored product ads, try it. What's the worst that can happen? It's risk vs. reward."

⚙️ Amazon Seller Central Updates

Critical changes affecting your operations

US Seller Fulfilled Prime Policy Update

Effective June 29, 2025

Amazon is updating Seller Fulfilled Prime and Premium Shipping policies based on program performance data and seller feedback:

  • New program enrollment and eligibility requirements for SFP sellers
  • Updated performance requirements for Premium Shipping
  • OTDR protection for late deliveries when using Shipping Settings Automation
  • Additional protection during major disruption events affecting specific regions

These changes aim to maintain the Prime badge's reliability while addressing common seller challenges. More details here

Partnered Carrier Shipment Fee Adjustments

Effective June 12, 2025

Starting June 12, inaccurate shipping measurements for Partnered Carrier shipments will result in fee adjustments:

  • Credit to your account if your provided measurements were too high
  • Additional charge if measurements were too low
  • Notifications available in the Inbound Performance dashboard
  • View measurement differences by selecting "Inaccurate transportation weight/dims" under "Defect group"

New Minimum Inventory Thresholds for AWD

Amazon Warehousing and Distribution (AWD) now lets you set both minimum and maximum FBA inventory thresholds for auto-replenishment:

  • Helps maintain ideal inventory levels for steady-demand products
  • Particularly useful for seasonal products and new product launches
  • Works for Buy with Prime and signature brand products
  • Without thresholds, replenishment ships to optimal FBA level determined by Amazon

Note: Setting minimum thresholds makes products ineligible for storage fee waivers for 90 days.

Improved Send to Amazon Features

Available now

Two new features in the Send to Amazon workflow make shipment management more efficient:

  • Visibility into Amazon-optimized splits qualification during shipment creation
  • Total estimated cost display on the "Confirm Shipping" step
  • Automatic comparison between small parcel and less-than-truckload shipping options
  • Pre-selection of the most cost-effective shipping method

🎨 AI Spotlight: Perfect Your Product Images

Use AI + Canva to create professional product images

The Missing 10%: Perfecting AI Product Images with Canva

ChatGPT can create amazing product images that are 90% of the way there – but that last 10% matters.

Our latest tutorial shows how to take AI-generated product images and perfect them using Canva's easy editing tools:

  1. Use Background Removal to Isolate Elements:
    • Isolate product bottles, packaging, or specific elements using Canva's magic grab tool
    • Remove original backgrounds completely for clean placement
  2. Add Proper Shadows for Depth:
    • Use Canva's shadow elements to create realistic depth
    • Position shadows to match your product's light source
    • Layer multiple shadows for more complex lighting effects
  3. Apply Consistent Color Filters:
    • Match the color temperature of your AI-generated image
    • Use Canva's filter options (like "Elder") to create visual consistency
    • Apply filters to ensure your real product matches the infographic style
  4. Refine Edges with Precision:
    • Use the eraser tool with a small brush to clean up any imperfect edges
    • Rotate elements slightly to align perfectly with your composition
    • Utilize Canva's snap-to features for precise alignment

This approach lets you maintain perfect control of your brand elements while leveraging the speed and creativity of AI-generated designs.

💡 SynapseBytes Insights: Image Strategy for 2025

Adapting to Amazon's new image enforcement

With Amazon's recent algorithm updates and stricter enforcement of image policies, sellers need a smart, strategic approach to product imagery. Here's how to stay ahead:

Understand Category-Specific Boundaries

As John Aspinall highlighted in our recent podcast, image rules vary dramatically by category:

  • Supplements and utilitarian products have more flexibility
  • Books, media, shoes, and jewelry face stricter limitations
  • Apparel requires realistic presentation without added elements

The key is to study what's working in your specific category's search results – especially among sponsored results, which pass through additional approval layers.

Focus on Risk-Adjusted Testing

With image suppression (not account suspension) being the worst outcome of testing:

  1. Create a testing calendar where you systematically try new image approaches
  2. Document performance impacts of each test to build your own data-driven playbook
  3. Develop multiple image variations to quickly replace any suppressed images
  4. Set up alerts to quickly catch any image suppressions

Leverage "Made in USA" and Country-of-Origin Advantages

For products made in the US, Canada, Japan, Germany, or other countries associated with quality:

  • Make country-of-origin information highly visible in your main image
  • Use red, white and blue color schemes for US-made products to create scroll-stopping visuals
  • Consider "Made in North America" language for Canadian/Mexican production

Combine AI Generation with Human Refinement

As demonstrated in our Canva tutorial, the winning approach combines:

  1. Using AI to create the foundational image structure and infographics
  2. Manually refining details that matter most to your specific audience
  3. Ensuring perfect alignment with your actual product

This hybrid approach gives you the speed of AI with the precision needed to maintain trust with buyers.

By implementing these strategies now, you'll position your listings to stand out even as Amazon continues to refine its image policies through 2025.
