β€‹πŸŽ„ TLDR πŸŽ„

Your Amazon click-through rate is probably costing you thousands.

Earlier this year our COO Nicholas Hodge sat down with a CTR specialist who's helped brands double and triple their performance.

Now that we're headed into 2026 it's worth reviewing what's actually been working and will continue to work in 2026 and beyond!

Oh and a quick update on CortexIQ: we're gearing up for wider release!

Let's get in to it.

Where Is Your Amazon PPC Budget Leaking?

Most sellers know something is off in their PPC account. They just don't know where.

Wasted spend hides in search terms, match types, and campaigns that look "fine" at first glance.

One of our trusted Amazon agency partners is offering free instant PPC audits exclusively for SynapseBytes readers. Upload your search term report and get clear, actionable insights in minutes.

The $0 Fix That's Boosting Amazon Sales 20-50%

John Aspinall has spent 20 years in ecommerce and reviewed tens of thousands of Amazon listings.

Now as Chief Evangelist at Trellis and founder of Aspi Creatives, he's focused on one thing: getting more people to click your products.

His insight? CTR is the lowest-cost, highest-speed lever you can pull.

"If you have a 10% conversion rate and you increase your CTR, you're getting more people seeing it. If that conversion rate stays the same, you make more money. Basic math."

The Made in USA Mistake Everyone's Making

If your product is made in the US and you're not screaming it in red, white, and blue on your main image, you're losing.

John's blunt about it: "In May 2025, with everything going on in the world, if you don't say that and show that very clearly in your hero image, you're doomed."

Brands make two critical errors:

They don't mention "Made in USA" at all.

They mention it in their brand colors instead of red, white, and blue.

The American flag colors are a scroll stopper. Period.

People understand what red, white, and blue means even if they don't speak English.

Pro tip: If you source from Canada or Mexico, you can say "Made in North America." It picks up the same search intent without being misleading.

And if your product is made in Germany, Japan, Korea, or the UK? Show it. These countries carry weight. They signal quality. Bulgaria? Maybe skip it.

Wild West vs. No-Fly Zones

Not every category allows creative freedom with main images.

Books, media, shoes (historically), and jewelry are strict no-fly zones. Don't test Amazon's patience there.

But supplements, utilitarian products (batteries, hangers, cleaning supplies), and anything someone rips open without looking at the box? Go wild.

John's litmus test: "Take a look at the search results for your keyword. If you see other folks doing certain things in sponsored product ads, try it."

The worst that can happen? Image suppression. Not account suspension. Just revert to your old image and you're fine.

The Packaging Visualization That Works

Amazon's cracking down on fake call-outs and stickers that look too promotional.

What still works? Realistic packaging.

If you're selling a three-pack, show a wrap around the items like you'd see in a retail store. Add a subtle wrinkle effect to make it believable.

Anything that "comes off" the label, like a jutting banner or ribbon, is getting suppressed.

The key is making it look like actual packaging, not a graphic designer's dream.

Risk vs. Reward

Most sellers overthink this.

They think one wrong move means account termination, a new bank account, and fleeing the country.

John's reality check: "A lot of people think the sky is falling. But if you know what you're doing, it's a super easy fix."

Test your images. If they get suppressed, revert. That's it.

No one's losing their account over a creative main image.

The Bottom Line

Your main image is the one thing you control that doesn't cost money and can impact sales today.

If you're bleeding money on ads, stuck waiting on inventory, or hitting a sales plateau, start here.

Fix the Made in USA labeling. Test bolder creative in wild west categories. Stop leaving money on the table because you're scared of image suppression.
