Hi ,
Day 5: Gratitude
A few months ago, I was decluttering my house and pulled out a bin stuffed with gratitude journals from the mid 2000s. I have had a gratitude practice for nearly two decades. My friend, a Marie Kondo-type, said dump them.
Not a chance. It's a story of where I have been, and how I got here.
Early in my health and fitness career, I fell upon a piece of research that showed people with a gratitude practice exercise more; in fact, gratitude is known to improve athletic performance, balance mood, improve blood pressure and more. It is the pixie dust we can sprinkle on anything and it makes life better. This is a great summary of the key benefits of gratitude: physical, emotional, psychological, and practical and spiritual.
Gratitude has gotten me through my darkest days. After my mum died, I wrote in it every day, tears soaking the paper. I missed her so much it was visceral, in every pore... but I was so grateful she had been my mum. Gratitude doesn't turn life into rainbows and sunshine - it simply makes you appreciate life.
I encourage you to use the Gratitude Journal included in this program or buy a blank, beautiful journal. Write in it nightly. Be mindful of the gift of your body. When you are giving up sugar/bread/alcohol, and pushing yourself to exercise...it can be tough on days. At nightfall, you will be so grateful for every healthy choice you made along the way. Write it down. It will change your life.

50 Healthy Meal Prep (I love the egg muffins...use a little goat's cheese!)
Exercise Snack: PUSH IT (80s girl at heart!)
*** Reminder: Hundreds of workouts in the portal and on the private Instagram (@erinphelanfitfam) and we have an Exercise Snack Thread!
I am ready. Are you ready?
Get what you need from this program. Every day we address something new. You will eventually create the "habit" of your treats - whether it it a gorgeous slice of cake with a friend at the weekend, or a glass of wine on a Friday. But for the 21 days you create habits on exercise, sleep, healthy eating and more.
PS - What's APP daily motivation will go LIVE on Monday. This is just a way to get reminders to drink water, move your body and spread light! Not mandatory!
With gratitude,
